Designed to comply with permitted development rights, this side and rear extension enlarges a bungalow while keeping the new eaves no higher than those of the existing property. A shallow tiled edge softens the appearance of the otherwise flat-roofed extension and helps it sit naturally alongside the original roof.

Although the new accommodation has an open-plan feel, retaining part of the central wall provided valuable space for the clients’ preferred kitchen and lounge layouts. This helped define each area while making the best possible use of the enlarged interior.
